Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide temporary housing and living essentials to those in need, in a safe environment that fosters a sense of self-worth, promotes self-sufficiency and strives for independent living.

“…for, what-so-ever you did for one of mine, you did for me. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in…” -Jesus

Our Sisters' House

Picture
Our Sisters’ House is a temporary homeless shelter located at 328 E Washington Ave. in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.  This location was originally home to the nuns of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  St. Mary's has leased the house to T.R.U.T.H. (Three Rivers United Temporary Housing) and named it “Our Sisters’ House” in their honor.
Our Sisters’ House has been in operation since October 5th 2015. We not only provide shelter for those in need but we also provide programs beneficial to each individual’s needs.  Our programs consist of personalized goal plans that teach life lessons and direct each individual to pertinent resources that will promote self-sufficiency. Finding permanent employment, securing affordable housing, teaching necessary life skills and assisting individuals in getting any needed mental/medical care are a few of the services we provide.
As a temporary homeless shelter, Our Sisters’ House has 90 days to guide each resident on the path to independence.  During this time frame, self-sufficiency can be attained through weekly one-on-one goal setting meetings with each individual, follow up on the previous week’s assigned tasks, and encouraging the use of all resources that we have suggested.  Resident’s progress is measured with step by step case plans and one on one case management that evaluates weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals.  We have found that meeting with each individual on a daily/weekly basis not only ensures they stay on task but it also gives them the support they need to continue making steps towards their ultimate success goal.  We are always looking for help with fundraising, house volunteers, and monetary donations to help us continue providing immediate temporary housing to individuals and families in need.

For some families and individuals in Lincoln County and the surrounding area, being without a place to call home is a reality.  In our first year, we provided hope to 50+ men, women, and children.  We provide more than just shelter; we provide WARMTH; a warm bed, warm shower, warm meals and warm hearts.
